Identifying Christian missionary opportunities

After earning a degree in ministry from a Christian university, men and women of faith may wonder how to locate opportunities to serve the Lord. Fortunately, there are a range of groups that are in constant need of compassionate, driven servants of Christ who want to help people in need.

Many paths
To identify ministry and missions trips in the U.S. and abroad, men and women of faith can contact organizations such as Opportunities in Christian Missions Work. This global group operates in many countries around the world in a variety of capacities, from church planting and medical outreach programs to education and evangelism. In addition to the wide range of missions opportunities available, men and women of faith can further develop their knowledge and skills through several training programs offered by the organization.

Another group in need of passionate, dedicated believers is Christian Missions in Many Lands. This organization is active in many areas of missionary work and outreach, including various construction projects around the world, agriculture, medical missions and teaching English. Listings of available opportunities are updated regularly, enabling men and women of faith to identify positions for which there is an urgent need.

Adventures in Missions is another leading Christian missionary organization operating around the world. This group is dedicated to providing young people with the opportunity to serve the Lord through its Ambassador and Passport programs, and also provides men and women of faith with the chance to serve in 11 countries in as many months as part of its World Race initiative.

Biblical truth
Helping those in need is perhaps the most important of Christ’s teachings. Although not every Christian will be able to help others in far-off countries, providing aid to the less fortunate is an important biblical principle.

Acts 6:4 reads, “But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.” This means that remaining in close communion with the Lord and serving Him through missions work is something that all Christians should aspire to. Embarking on ministry outreach projects, whether in the U.S. or abroad, is one way for committed men and women of faith to do this. No matter where they choose to serve, Christians can find God’s will for their lives through missionary work and make a real difference to people’s lives.
