Families can grow closer on Christian missions trips
After earning their degree in ministry from a Christian college, some individuals may be hesitant to commit to an overseas outreach project due to family commitments. What many men and women of faith do not realize is that missions trips can be a great way for parents and their children to grow closer as a family and spread God’s love to those who need it most.
Some Christian missions groups specialize in outreach opportunities for families, both in the U.S. and abroad. One such organization is Adventures in Missions. Christian families can embark on short-term outreach projects lasting just a few days or head out on missions trips for up to two weeks. This flexible approach to serving the Lord could be ideal for parents who are concerned about pulling their children out of school for a missions trip.
Missionary work is an important biblical principle. This is perhaps best illustrated by passages such as Acts 6:4, which reads, “But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.” Spreading the teachings of Jesus Christ as a family is a wonderful way for children to see God’s love in action, as well as a great opportunity for parents to demonstrate important leadership qualities.
